055: Three week Easter Break pt.II

Quick update, at end of day Thrusday this is where I was up to. I used Foundation Adeptus Battlegrey to block off all the areas that would be Catachan green, mainly because this will save me a few layers (rather than going straight onto the black basecoat with green). Some of the models had been started with DA green going up to Catachan, but I blocked those out and started again just to make sure it was all uniform. Im getting all three Autocannon teams done at once too. As you can see, the green is very flat right now but it has gone nicely onto the grey, good coverage - bar one fella who's missed half his helmet (I only realised when taking the photos). I will highlight up the green and get some nice depth and shadow to it. Here are the pics of the work so far, feeling good about getting them done and moving on in this three week break!

  1. Nice, nice, keep up the good work! If everyone is going to look as good as that sergeant i'll make for an impressive squad.

In response to your previous question, right now I'm working on my Dark Eldar. Probably won't paint anything during the one week break, but I have plenty of assembling (mostly making scenic bases) and some conversions to do!
Also a lot of shots of stuff I haven't shot yet to do...

  2. I like the "in progress" shots, rather than just start and finish. Gives some insight into your technique.

You might have covered this else where, but why are the lasguns chopped off at the front? Do you just not like the look of the rifle's barrel?

  3. @ Hal'jin - really looking forward to your scenic bases, I know how good your IG ones look so that'll make for an interesting post do the line

@BoxerSaint - No I havent covered it previously, its something I have only done with this squad. I intend to now do it to the rest of my models though. I feel the standard Lasgun is just that bit too big and out of proportion. I saw the ends chopped off on quite a few sites. I will drill the ends of them slightly to give a barrell look!
check out this blog for some cool pics of how it can look : http://apoca6.blogspot.com/2010/01/been-while.html
